Since September 2006, the MassUMA Working Group has met to discuss and consider the adoption of the Uniform Mediation Act (UMA) in Massachusetts.

The purpose of this web site is to provide the Massachusetts mediation community and other stakeholders with a single text for ease of review of and commenting upon the Uniform Mediation Act currently under consideration, to be known as the UMA One-Text.

For your convenience, the UMA One-Text has been separated into three sections: Sections 1-3, Sections 4-6, and Sections 7-17.  Changes to language in the UMA currently under consideration by the MassUMA Working Group that differ from the original version of the UMA appear highlighted in blue.  Toward the end of each of these sections appear commentary by subcommittees of the MassUMA Working Group.  At the bottom of each section there is space to post your comments, questions, or concerns at the bottom of the page. For your reference, a page has been created containing the original UMA.
